Wimbledon Common - after monotype III
For this series of landscape prints, I began with a photograph of trees that is first translated into black and white monotype, where the focus is on light and shade. I then break down that printed image and reconstruct it through colour screenprinted layers. I tried different colour combinations, which makes for a varied edition of prints with a range of different colours. I use layers from the monotype and intersperse these with others derived from the original photograph before adding hand-drawn pencil marks.
Rather than presenting a complete description, these prints invite you to enter a world adjacent to the photograph, where memory and feeling take precedence over reproduction.
Printed on Somersert velvet paper, traditionally an etching paper. The texture of this soft paper lends a layer of complexity and surface to these atmospheric limited edition prints.
Varied edition of 10
Unframed - £300
Framed - float mounted as shown £450
