Impressions of Wimbledon Common
Printmaker Katie Preston brings the beauty of Wimbledon Common to life in a vibrant new solo exhibition at the Norman Plastow Gallery, Wimbledon Village, from 28th April to 10th May. Through striking screenprints, expressive monotypes and lively drawings, Katie captures the Common’s shifting seasons and transforms familiar paths, ponds and trees into bold, atmospheric works of art.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxed, inspiring gallery experience and meet the artist in person daily from 2–5pm to hear about her creative process.
15% of print sales (excluding frames) will be donated to the Wimbledon Museum, which is just next door to the gallery.

Prints in the exhibition
A new collection of four seasonal prints on coloured Somerset Velvet paper. The texture of this soft paper lends another layer to these atmospheric screenprints.
Edition of 5
Unframed - £250
Framed - float mounted as shown £430
Monotypes are an expressive and more immediate form of printmaking than screenprinting, where each colour layer is prepared and applied separately. With monotype you ink up a plate and use a variety of tools to add and remove ink, before running it through a press.
Each print is unique and an edition of 1.
Framed £195
Unframed £135
This print in three parts was inspired by the work of Japanese printmaker Hiroshige, whose evocative prints of life and landscape in Japan are as fresh as when they were printed in the 19th century.
It shows the paths that lead into Wimbledon Common from Camp Road, each one taking you a different journey through the leafy landscape.
All three prints are in an edition of 10
Individual print £130 unframed; £170 framed
Measures 40cm × 20cm unframed and 50cm x 30cm
Triptych framed as shown £600

Katie is showing a mix of screenprints and monotypes. She will also have her sketchbooks on hand so you can see how sketches and photographs play their part in her printmaking process.
