This print was created for an exhibition at the Wimbledon Museum, a gem of a museum of local Wimbledon history. Artists were asked to respond to pieces in the museum collection and I was immediately drawn to a small painting from 1865 by Charles Nightingale. It presents a romantic vision of a couple walking through a tree lined path by Caesar’s Camp. I felt there was something in the brushmarks, the quiet mood, the storybook quality that resonated with my painterly screenprints. I took a slice of the original painting and layer by layer, merged it with elements of a photograph of the tall trees that now surround Caesar’s Camp.
Printed by hand in London using water based inks on Fabriano 300gsm paper.
My prints are handmade and colours will vary slightly from print to print, especially those with blended skies and paths.
£250.00 unframed. Framed as shown with art glass £400. Framed items must be collected or local delivery arranged. Unframed print will be posted flat.
